NIU Newman Civic Fellowship Program

The NIU Newman Civic Fellowship Program recognizes and supports student public problem solvers. This yearlong program, held in conjunction with Campus Compact, offers students opportunities to expand their learning, make an impact and create meaningful professional connections.

One NIU student is selected for this program each year, based on the student’s demonstrated civic and community engagement leadership and commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing communities.

Opportunities for the NIU Newman Civic Fellow include:

• Annual in-person Convening of Fellows.
• In-person and virtual learning and networking events.
• One-on-one leadership development with a local mentor.
• Connection to a nationwide network of engaged student leaders during and after the fellowship year.
• Public national recognition.
• Special scholarship and career opportunities.
• Opportunities to present or publish work through Campus Compact.
