How to Apply

HSS Fellow Eligibility

As an HSS fellow, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be currently enrolled full time as freshman or first year transfer student
  • Be a first generation college student (neither parents have completed a 4-year degree) or be eligible for the federal Pell Grant
  • Commit approximately 8-10 hours a week to the program for the entire academic year
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Earn a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program
Application Timeline
  • Applications for 2018-19 academic year open in November.
  • Applications 'Early Decision Deadline' is May 31.
  • Interviews conducted on June 22 and June 23.
  • Program participants will be notified on June 29.
  • Applications 'Late Orientation Deadline" is August 13. (A few more spots will be saved only for students attending late orientation.)
  • 'Late Orientation Applications' interviews will be conducted on August 25. Decisions will follow the same day.

Peer Mentor Eligibility

As an HSS peer mentor, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a sophomore, junior or senior
  • Be able to serve as a positive role model for first-year students
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with first-year students
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Earn a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program
  • Commit approximately 8-10 hours a week to the program for the entire academic year

Fellows 'Early Decisions' - May 31

Fellows 'Late Orientation' - August 13

Peer Mentors - March 18
